What is Gone Goat?

Gone Goat is a card game about chaos, mischief, and goats that never stay where you put them. It's easy to teach, fast to play, and gets louder every time someone new pulls up a chair.

Each round builds tension as players read each other's moves, time their plays, and try not to be the one left holding everything when the goats finally bolt. Expect last-second saves, honest betrayals, and immediate demands for a rematch.

Everything fits in a standard poker-size tuck box — pocket-sized, shelf-worthy, and ready to hit the table in under five minutes.

What it feels like to play

Setup

  • Shuffle the deck and deal each player a starting hand
  • Place remaining cards face-down as a draw pile in the center
  • Youngest player goes first — or whoever looks most guilty

On your turn

  • Play cards from your hand to press your advantage
  • Trigger effects, respond to other players, chain actions
  • Draw back up and brace for what comes next

Winning

  • Outmaneuver your opponents to reach the win condition first
  • Every game plays out differently — no two rounds feel the same

Pick your table size

Gone Goat scales from a tight two-player game to a full table of eight. Same rules either way — just more chaos with more people.

One deck

2–4 players

Tight and tactical. Every card matters and you'll know exactly who's ahead.

Two decks

5–8 players

More players, more cards, more mayhem. Built for a full game night crowd.

Standard poker-size cards. Tuck box packaging. Fits in a jacket pocket.

Who it's for

  • Friends who want something to do besides stare at their phones
  • Game nights that need a fast, low-barrier opener or closer
  • Households with teens who've played every card game twice
  • Casual players who want real depth without a two-hour rulebook
  • Anyone who has ever been stabbed in the back at a game table and immediately wanted another round

Ages 14 and up. No prior card game experience needed.

About the creator

Terry, creator of Gone Goat

Hi — I'm Terry. I've been drawing, designing, and making things for as long as I can remember, and Gone Goat is the project I've been building toward without fully realizing it.

The idea started with the characters — goats with too much personality and nowhere to put it — and grew into a game I genuinely love playing with people. I'm excited to bring it to more tables.
